For All Age Groups

When it comes to birthday party themes, there are so many to choose from. Once you've decided, you can plan the rest of your birthday party around it. From the invitations, decorations, food and the all important party games.





I will start with Children themes, so please scroll down for some adult party themes.

Children's Birthday Party Themes

For Toddlers and birthday parties for the 3-5 year olds the party theme should reflect what your child is interested in.

As your child gets older, the 6-8 year olds and the 9 to 12 year olds they will no doubt have a strong opinion on what they want and the range of to choose from is much wider. In these age groups, the Pirate Party is a popular one for the boys, while the Princess Party and fairy party is a popular one for the girls.

The Party Themes for Teenagers will most definitely be the choice of your child. You will probably find that the Teenage birthday party games will not be the traditional party games that they have had in the past. The ever popular slumber party is a fantastic party idea for the girls, and there are lots of girlie party games that you can organize. I like the idea of a beach party for kids, especially teenagers.

You can plan a party around your child's favorite book or movie. The popular Twilight Saga book series has has been a big hit with teenagers recently and the Harry Potter series continues to be a big hit for the younger kids.

    Themed Party for Adults

    Even some of us grown ups like to pretend to be kids again. A great way to do that is by having a party theme that you would have for your kids. I've seen some grown ups in some great costumes at a pirate party I know that there are still a few of us girls that like to dress up for a princess party.

    One of my favorite theme nights is a murder mystery there are so many different versions to choose from that even if you've played one before, they're great to do again.

    General Party Themes Ideas

  • Hollywood Party
    • There are so many things that you can do for a Hollywood Party. Choose your favorite movie and plan your costumes and decorations around it. You can Save 15% on Hollywood Party Supplies by getting everything you need from the one place.

  • Alphabet
    • Easy adult party games. Choose a letter of the Alphabet and everyone must dress as something beginning with that letter. If the birthday boy is Andrew, then the letter A would be appropriate.

  • Color
    • Choose a color, and everyone must dress as wearing that color. The birthday girl should choose the color.

  • Duo's
    • I went to a New Years Eve Duo's party last year. My husband and I were Nicole Kidman (I have red hair), and Tom Cruise. Other guests included, Sonny and Cher, Hansel and Gretel, Caesar and Cleopatra and Hugh Hefner with one of his Bunnies. The list of duos is endless.

    Just a quick note to let you know that I followed your instructions for running party games at my sons birthday party and it went really well. I did 3 games and the most popular was the obstacle course. I had 10 boys ages 6-10 and once they had played with the course I had set out they then started to create their own ideas for obstacles and rearranged the course making it harder and harder. This 1 game kept them entertained for over an hour.
