The Third Twin- Ken Follett
I am really enjoying it so far. It managed to get me hooked early, and if a book doesn't do that for me then sometimes I don't even finish it.
Now I know everyone has different tastes in books, so you may not like the books that I do. However, if you like a fast pace, thrilling story with intrigue and suspense, then you may like this one.
This story revolves around a scientist Jeannie Ferrami who is researching the genetics of identical twins, in particular those that are separated at birth. In doing so, she uncovers a baffling mystery that threatens her research and turns her world upside down. A high tech read, with hidden evil, mystery, murder and love.
I already love this book and I'm only half way through!

Pillars of the Earth - Ken Follett
The reason I chose The Third Twin for my turn at hosting Book Club, is because I had already read a book by Ken Follett called
Pillars of The Earth
The story was also turned into mini series that I recently watched. My husband loved it too, although he didn't read the book.
The Pillars of the Earth is set in medieval times , 1300 England, and takes you on a journey of the lives of Tom Builder and his family, as he follows his passion to build a cathedral for the monks in Kingsbridge. His passion is passed down to his "step son" Jack, whose own father died carrying a secret that royal and religious power hungry people don't want known. They will do whatever to keep it that way. The politics of war, power and control between the King, the church and the land owners threatens the building of the cathedral and is a constant threat in the lives of the inhabitants of Kingsbridge.
3 people recommended this book to me and I have since recommended it to others, it has everything. An epic tale of medieval politics, secrets, murder, power, control and love, a page turner all the way.
Room: A Novel [Paperback]
Author: Emma Donoghue
Room: A Novel via Amazon
This is the next book that I will be reading so I will have to get back to you with my own comments and some of my fellow Book Club members comments too!
Here is the synopsis:
To five-year-old-Jack, Room is the world. . . . It's where he was born, it's where he and his Ma eat and sleep and play and learn. At night, his Ma shuts him safely in the wardrobe, where he is meant to be asleep when Old Nick visits.
Room is home to Jack, but to Ma it's the prison where she has been held for seven years. Through her fierce love for her son, she has created a life for him in this eleven-by-eleven-foot space. But with Jack's curiosity building alongside her own desperation, she knows that Room cannot contain either much longer.
Room: A Novel is a tale at once shocking, riveting, exhilarating--a story of unconquerable love in harrowing circumstances, and of the diamond-hard bond between a mother and her child.

A Christmas Carol
This is the perfect book to read running up to Christmas. A classic story that can easily be read over and over. I' looking forward to getting into this one because I haven't read it for ages and I think my son is old enough that I can read it to him now as well.
A Christmas Carol tale begins on Christmas Eve seven years after the death of Ebenezer Scrooge's business partner Jacob Marley. Scrooge is established within the first stave (chapter) as a greedy and stingy businessman who has no place in his life for kindness, compassion, charity, or benevolence.
After being warned by Marley's ghost to change his ways, Scrooge is visited by three additional ghosts "each in its turn" who accompany him to various scenes with the hope of achieving his transformation. The first of the spirits, the Ghost of Christmas Past, takes Scrooge to the scenes of his boyhood and youth which stir the old miser's gentle and tender side by reminding him of a time when he was more innocent.
The second spirit, the Ghost of Christmas Present, takes Scrooge to several radically differing scenes (a joy-filled market of people buying the makings of Christmas dinner, the family feast of Scrooge's near-impoverished clerk Bob Cratchit, a miner's cottage, and a lighthouse among other sites) in order to evince from the miser a sense of responsibility for his fellow man.
The third spirit, the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come, harrows Scrooge with dire visions of the future if he does not learn and act upon what he has witnessed. Scrooge's own neglected and untended grave is revealed, prompting the miser to aver that he will change his ways in hopes of changing these "shadows of what may be...
