Children remember their birthday party when there have been exciting party games and activities played.
Fairy Games Costume Parade.
Dressing up in fairy costumes is not an option for this fairy party. I doubt you will hear many complaints from the little guests, unless your thinking of inviting some little boys too. Boys can be included by suggesting elf, pixie or gnome costumes.
Be clear on your invitation that a fairy costume should be worn. A good idea is to have a dress up box of extra clothes and props like fairy wands, wings and tiaras. Your little guests can add to their costumes or borrow pieces that are missing from their own.
If you need some fairy wings then ave a look at these Double Layered Rainbow Fairy Princess Butterfly Costume Dress-up Wings w/ Pink, Purple, Blue & Green Best Rainbow Fairy Wings, no fairy should be without her wings!
Once everyone is dressed up, why not have a fairy parade so everyone can show off their party costume. Don't forget to take lots of pictures!
Fairy Games Pin The Fairy Wand
This game has been around for years and is great for tailoring to any party theme. Traditionally a Donkey was used, but I have adapted it to suit a fairy party. You can create your own large picture of a fairy and you could have your birthday child help with the drawing and colouring in. This is a great party starter, as each child arrives have them pin the fairy wand into the fairy's hand. You will need:
A large picture of a fairy, with a large X marked on the position were the wand should be, I suggest the hand of the fairy. A small plastic wand you can buy one from the shops or simply make your own. a blindfold, blue Tack to hold the picture securely on the wall. A pen to write the child's name on the position they stuck the wand. Optional small prizes for the guests who get the closest.
If you're time poor or not in the least bit creative in the craft department, like me, then consider getting the pre-made Pin The Fairy On The flower, with reusable fairy stickers and a real cloth blindfold, too easy!
Object of the game: To pin the wand on the fairy in the correct position. The closest child wins.
Instructions:Securely fix the fairy picture onto a wall at eye level to the children's height.Show the first child the picture and show them where the wand should go.Blindfold the child and hand them the wand.Turn the child around 3 times then put their hand on the fairy's head.Let the child decide where they think the wand should go.Once they have chosen a spot, mark the spot with their name. Take the blindfold off the child so that they can see how close they were.Repeat with all the children.
Fairy Cake Decorating
You will need: Pre prepared cup cakes, coloured icing, cake sprinkles assorted colours, lollies (chocolate buttons, Smarties, M n M's, Snakes, Jelly beans etc), 1 large plate. You will no doubt need to assist to some degree.
Object of the game: To decorate the cakes then eat them
Instructions:Put all the lollies into separate bowls.Prepare the icing and put into a bowl.Put the cup cakes on a large plate. Each child chooses a cup cake and decorates it with the icing and lollies.Finished cup cakes are placed back on the plate ready to present and eat.

Fairy Bubble Painting
Ideally have the children make the color bubble card/canvas at the beginning of the fairy party. At the end when the color bubbles have dried, they can put the finishing touches, i.e. the fairy stickers, onto their card/canvas and take home as a memento.
Fairy games with bubbles and very young children can be as simple as letting them all just run around bursting them. Keep your fairy games simple and do what works for you.
You will need: Bubble solution (1 part of detergent, 15 parts soft/distilled water, ¼ part glycerine). Selection of Food coloring. Selection of containers to put bubble solution into. 30cm x 30cm white cards or canvases (1 for each child). A marker pen, Flexible wire from a craft store. Pliers to cut the wire. Lots of Fairy stickers.
Object of the game: To create a fairy bubble picture to take home.
Instructions:Make up the bubble solution the night before.Divide the bubble solution into different containers depending on how many colors you have.Color each of the containers solution using the water soluble food coloring.Using the flexible wire, make some bubble makers, (e.g. a circle with a handle), enough for each color. Give each child a white card or canvas with their name on it.Have adults create the colored bubbles while the children run around catching the colored bubbles onto their white cards/canvases.Finally, once the paint has dried, share out the fairy stickers for the children to stick onto their color bubble card/canvas. Blow bubbles while playing more fairy games!
Fairy Craft Making
Little girls love to get creative, so why not set up a fairy games craft station. You will need a large table, or several small tables for the children to work from. Adult assistance will be needed for the cutting and guidance. The girls can decorate the plastic wine goblets with glitter, jewels and beads. They can color in the fairy pictures or draw their own fairy pictures which can be cut out, colored and decorated with whatever you have available. Try making fairy wands with cardboard, these can be pre-cut the night before, ready for decorating.
You will need: Table/s, Craft items, Glue, Child safe scissors, Sticky tape, Printable fairy pictures, Glitter, Coloring pencils Lots of Fairy stickers, plastic jewels and beads, plastic wine goblets, Colored paper and cardboard to to make wands and to draw on.
Object of the game: To create fairy craft to take home.
Instructions:Print off the fairy pictures from the web site.Cut out wands using the cardboard.Spread out the craft equipment on the table.Break the children into small groups for each activity, (1)Goblet decorating, 2) Making and coloring fairy pictures, 3)Wand Making).Once a child has completed a craft activity rotate them into the next activity.
Fairy Face Painting
Face painting and birthdays always go together very well. There is nothing more popular at a fairy party for girls than to have their faces painted like beautiful colorful fairies. Organize a special talented face painter or if your any good at doing it for yourself why not give it a go.
Fairy Tail Story TimeOnce upon a time a little girl had a birthday party…..everyone loves a fairy tail, yes even the grown ups. Select a fairy tail to suit the age range of your guests. Sit everyone in a fairy circle, including the story teller, who ideally should also be dressed as a fairy. This is a great easy party game to do just before the yummy food is served or to quieten the children down just before their parents take them home.
Check out your local library or book store for a special story about fairies, or ask the birthday girl to choose her favourite fairy tail.
The Tell Me A Story- Fairytale Mixup A set of cards come highly recommended. Featuring beautifully illustrated and intriguing images, they provide the components for children to make up their own stories, or to aid adults in creating spontaneous stories. Thematically linked but open-ended images spur the imagination and become the catalyst for creativity. Instructions included. For ages 3 and up.
