This is a great traditional kids birthday party game, fun games 3 year olds will just love. I make sure that everyone gets something, as its important for this age group. This is a great game to play to settle the children prior to having the birthday tea or just before they go home.
You will need: A small gift (appropriate inexpensive toy / games 3 year olds can have), lots of Lollies from Candy.com and a few $2 toys, inexpensive wrapping paper, music.
Object of the game: The child who unwraps the last wrapping paper wins the special gift.
Before the party starts wrap the special gift/toy.
Continue wrapping the special gift/toy with several layers of wrapping paper and put in some lollies and or a small $2 toy between the layers. Make sure there are more layers than there are children.
Sit the children in a circle and turn on the music.
The parcel is now passed from child to child until the music stops.
The child holding the parcel when the music stops, gets to unwrap 1 layer of wrapping paper and can keep the lollies/small toy.
Repeat until all the wrapping paper is removed and the final special gift has been unwrapped by the winner.
Watch carefully to ensure that every child gets a turn to unwrap a layer.
For a fun alternative also try playing Musical Pass The Pickle""". The children will love the music and its an easy fun game to play at parties.
You will need: Chairs for each child, music.
Object of the game: The last child to sit on the last chair wins.
Set the chairs out in a row, some facing one way and some facing the opposite way.
Play music as the children walk in one direction around the chairs.
When the music stops, the children must find an empty chair and sit on it.
The child who doesn't get a chair sits out.
Remove 1 chair and repeat until there is only one chair left and 2 children.
The child that gets to sit on the chair first wins.
Musical bumps can be done if you don't have enough chairs. The children simply dance around until the music stops. The last child to sit down is out. The game is continued until you have a winner.
For a wide range of fun games that can be played with a bright colorful parachute, which is suitable for children of all ages.
Object of the game: To get the balloon from the start line to the finish line without the balloon touching the floor.
Give every child a blown up balloon of the same size.
Mark a Start and a Finish line.
The children have to pat the balloon with their hand, and get from the start line to the finish line, without the balloon touching the floor.
Hop, Bunny, Hop
You will need: No Props required for this kids birthday party game. Games 3 year olds can easily play.
Object of the game: Provide fun and laughter and work off the children's energy.
Ask the children to hop around the room.
When you shout Danger - a Fox, the children have to stop hoping and stand very still.
When you shout Danger Gone they can start hopping again.
Repeat only change the type of danger (see list)
If you say The rain is coming the children have to stand still with their hands on their head.
If you say The moon is up the children have to lay flat on the floor and pretend to be asleep.
If you say It's dinner time the children have to crouch down and pretend to eat grass.
Once upon a time in a beautiful rose garden there were four ladybug friends who flew among the leaves, exploring their sweet-smelling home....
The Ladybug Game uses a clever combination of colors, numbers, words, and symbols to help even the youngest kids catch on quickly.
The Zobmondo Entertainment The Ladybug Game has adorable graphics, easy play and no reading required make this award winner a perfect first board game. Bring it out for an indoor party with a small group of children.
A quiet activity great just before the children go home. This is a simple alternative to doing loot bags.
You will need: A box filled with wrapped small gifts and lollies from Candy.com. Shredded paper or small pieces of polystyrene packing foam.
Object of the game: Games 3 year olds can play, where every child gets to answer an easy question, then pick a prize out of the lucky dip.
Wrap small gifts in either blue paper for a boy or pink paper for a girl. Make sure that there are enough appropriate gifts for all of the children including your own!
Fill the box with the shredded paper and mix in the gifts.
Have the children sit quietly in front of the box.
You can ask each child a simple question such as what sound does a cat make? or have them do an activity.
When the child gets the answer right, they can put their hand in the lucky dip and pull out a gift.
Make sure the girls get the pink ones and the boys get the blue ones if the gifts are gender specific.
Question/ Activity Suggestions: (Select a question/activity depending on the child's capabilities.
What sound does a cow make?
What shape is the moon when its full?
What colour is Santa Clause suit?
Count to 10
Sing the alphabet

Games 3 Year Olds Birthday Party Tips
If you're going to run a kids birthday party game in your own home, whether indoors or outdoors, make sure that tools and chemicals are put away.
Check that fences and gates are secure, especially the pool or pond area. Ask a neighbor to look after any lively pets. If you don't want your best china to get broken, or the expensive vase that your great Aunt Mabel left you, then lock it away!
Make sure that you have plenty of large garbage bags, for the disposable paper cups, plates and wrapping paper. I recommend Shindigz.com...Great Party Supplies at Low Prices. Also, stock up on paper towels because there will be food and drink spilt! Remind the children to go to the toilet, the best time is just before the birthday tea and cake comes out.
Tears, Tantrums and Crowd Control.
Even a small group of children will need some from of crowd control. I made sure that the rules were clearly set out at the start before I started playing games 3 year olds liked. I had prizes for the winners and the runners up, as well as the one that came last! I made sure that everyone walked away with a prize. I was lucky that most of the parents hung around, so they helped.
If they start to get too wild, run a quiet game like Pass the Parcel. If a child is tearful, have an adult sit with them in a quiet corner or read a story to them.
Final Word on Games 3 Year Olds.
Remember KISS- Keep It Simple Stupid.
Don't try to do too much, 3 party games maximum and have a plan.
Don't try and do it all yourself, ask friends, family and other parents to help.
Keep within 2 hours, 3 at the most.
Remember to smile and look like you're having fun, because the children will pick up on your attitude.
